Slanted Writing

re-post The New Shelton Wet/Dry:
The merging nexus back and forth

{ Inventor Paolo Bizziocchi proposes that it would be easier to read text if it were sloped downhill from left to right, so that each new line would be at the same height as the line just finished. | Weird Universe }

What's really crazy is that it's actually true. Your eye finds it's way back to the beginning of the next line so easily. This is a score for all things slanted, sloped, off center; all things that will probably never be truly recognized for their genius. Reminds me I need to work on my posture.

NY Arts Magazine Gives Some Shine

From the desk of Jeff Stein (@ Dragonize) -

"My art has been published!
I was contacted by an editor at NY Arts Magazine in October of last year. She asked me to submit a selection of photos. She would choose one and give me a page with that and my artists statement in an upcoming issue of their print magazine as well as a page online.

I was pretty excited.

The editor told me she saw my work on an erotic art aggregator/blog called ponyXpress — a fantastic resource for high quality art, ideas, inspiration, and gorgeous nude people — about which I had remarked the previous day to a friend. I knew ponyXpress had featured some of the work I’d posted on Flickr twice already and was wondering if anything would come of it.

Coincidence?

I wrote and rewrote my statement going from a sarcastic version that bared my contempt for the typical pseudo-intellectual artist statement, to a plain-spoken description of my artistic process and goals."

Congratulations, Jeff. Needless to say, or maybe it does need to be said, hopefully more exposure is on the way.

The making of "The triangulations of Baby Minto" for Vintage Futurism, Kofie One

I always dig it when an artist shows their creative process for the curious.
Kofie One is dope.

Having never gone the art school route and not having anyone to introduce me to different creative processes, I really love seeing how people work creatively. I know there's some people that are scared of imitators or getting their process ripped off but for real if you got your style tight then you don't need to worry about 'secrets' or copy cats.
Behind the scenes also isn't for everybody. I remember reading about two different schools of symphony patrons, those who enjoy watching the orchestra warm up/tune up before the performance and those who feel it's unprofessional and only wish to see the finished product. Sometimes the behind the scenes can ruin an overall effect, render it less spectacle. You want to be awed and not bothered with the technicalities.
For me though, I love seeing the human hand in things, at least in the things I'm passionate about.
Check out more on Kofie One at keepdrafting.com , and for those out in LA check out his new show.
