The End...The Common Folk Journal
THIS IS AN OPEN CALL TO EVERYONE TO SHARE THEIR WRITINGS, DRAWINGS, THOUGHTS, SCRIBBLES, DOODLES, WHATEVER
I'm so optimistic about this project that i'm already starting at the end. The only real way you can start at the end is when you know that it's already going to be successful.
I need to tell all of you what the hell i'm talking about. I am thomass hancock, i am the photographer for the first Common Folk Journal (I didn't do it alone and all the people that helped will bubble up to the surface). I am really proud of the first edition of the journal and all the people that made it happen but i'm even more excited about the future collaborations that will go into the next edition. yea, we're gonna do a series of these mofos.
Collaborations is what this is all about. And this specific collaboration is hopefully gonna tie together a bunch of people that may not have normally check for one another, bring together people that are more different or less different than you ever thought. Common Folk is just that, bringing together every body as a community not as clashing entities, it's not about black culture, white culture, asian, latino, middle eastern, etc. but rich, poor, liberal, conservative, crazy, sane, working class, students, ignorant, intellectual, quiet, loud, office worker, street vendor, young, old, cavemansav, or whatever the hell culture you are.
Common Folk is for any of us and all of us.
We all live in this world together and so much of our lives are so similar and so different so share what you're thinking cuz there's comfort in confirming the familiar and excitement in learning the differences. There's so much we all have to share that we don't even realize is something worth sharing. This is the place to do it.
And this should be a collective free from judgement, if someone posts something think about it for a second and be like 'yo, they must have posted this for some reason.' It really doesn't matter whether it was purely just for fun or if there's something more behind it.
I'm dead serious about this.
I'm too old and seen too much not to be. This is really something that we can be a part of and really do.
Whether you got an official Common Folk Journal or not, contribute. Post. Add to this life we living.
